Make Your Own Luggage Tag, February 16, 2025, Washington, DC
Calling all travelers and people who have lost their luggage in the endless supply of black bags. Come learn to make leather goods and create your own hand stitched vegetable tanned leather luggage tag.
In this single day workshop, you will cut, stitch, finish and make your own luggage tag. Patterns and tools are provided, you will provide your own leather.
This workshop will take place at Amend and Adapt Studios in Brookland, NE washington DC from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Most students will finish their projects during the workshop; if it looks like you are not going to finish during class time, we will get you prepped to finish at home.
YOU PROVIDE:
You will need to provide one project panel that is at least 4”x 10” in a 2.5-3.5oz vegetable tanned leather. If you have questions about leather, please reach out and Katie can help you find the right thing.

edge finishing (bevel, sand, burnish to a high shine)
hand stitching with or without a stitching pony
cutting leather with a blade or scissors
pattern layout and modification
personalizing leather goods with letter stamps
Tools and supplies provided by S&R for use during the workshop:
cutting mats
mallets and pounding boards
metal edge rulers for cutting
hand stitching needles and a variety of thread colors in .030 twisted waxed cord
pricking irons in 5mm (for making hand-stitching holes)
waterbased adhesive
Tokonole edge fluid
edge beveling tools and burnishing materials
card stock for making your pattern
thread in a variety of colors
plastic for window
Light snacks and water/sodas will be provided.

Students who appear intoxicated will not be allowed to participate in classes and will not be given a refund (for real).
Workshop tickets are non-refundable, but are transferrable between students. If you cannot use your ticket, you may sell or gift it to someone else.
